Malshi

History

The Malshi, also known as the "Mal-Shi", is a hybrid dog breed that originated from a cross between the Maltese and the Shih Tzu. These pooches are relatively new to the scene, only gaining popularity in the last few decades. The exact origins of the breed are unknown, but the crossbreed is believed to have originated in the United States.

Character

The Malshi is known for its playful and lively character. They are often friendly and affectionate with people and get along well with children and other pets. These dogs have high energy and need lots of exercise and stimulation to feel happy and healthy. They are smart little dogs that are easy to train and can make excellent watchdogs. Malshis tend to develop separation anxiety and as such need a lot of human interaction and attention.

Health

The Malshi is generally a healthy breed, but they can be prone to certain genetic conditions that are common in the Maltese and Shih Tzu. This includes problems such as breathing problems, eye problems and patellar luxation. It is therefore important to have your Malshi checked regularly by a vet and to have the necessary vaccinations given.

Care

Malshis have a soft and fluffy coat that needs regular grooming. Regular brushing and bathing is essential to keep their coat in good condition. Their long ears also need regular cleaning to prevent infections. Malshis also need a lot of exercise, so daily walks and playtime are important to their well-being.
