Bernese Mountain Dog

History

The Bernese Mountain Dog, also known as the Bernese, is a breed of dog that originated in Switzerland. This breed was originally bred to help herd cattle, pull carts, and guard homes and farms. The Bernese Mountain Dog is one of four mountain dogs that were bred in Switzerland, the other three being the Appenzeller Mountain Dog, the Entlebucher Mountain Dog and the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.
